Description
Fabio Fabbi, born in Italy in 1861, stands as an acclaimed Orientalist painter renowned for his devotion to capturing the exotic allure of the Orient. His mastery of oil painting on canvas is evident in works displayed in prestigious art institutions, notably the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, Italy.
This Italian preferred to paint the more exotic aspects of the Arab world. Slavery and male domination was very much a part of the Middle East in the 19th century. While Europe and the west, might have entered a sense of enlightenment, this did not extend to the Ottoman empire and Arabian peninsula. Frequently he posed the harem girls around fountains or in the palace, here we see a merchant, of flesh and bone, not inert materials, offering his exceptional commodity. He is very proud of his inventory, she is a healthy and attractive item, for his best customer.
